City Choir welcomes new choristers who share our passion for singing. Our five, talented directors take us through a wide range of musical styles and sometimes challenging repertoire. Having an open mind is important, as you may be asked to sing in an unfamiliar language or an original composition (sometimes with movement) from week to week. It’s a lot of fun, and the two hours fly by as we learn, laugh & sing together.
We rehearse weekly on Tuesday nights from 6:50pm to 9pm, at Dixon Hall, 188 Carlton Street (former site of St. Peter’s Anglican Church), on the 506 Carlton streetcar line). See map
Uncertain if you’re a soprano, alto, tenor or bass or don’t know how to read music? We can help you find the right spot and there are plenty of other choristers in each section to help you along. We ask that our members make a commitment to attend most weekly rehearsals, in order to be fully prepared for upcoming performances. Training aids including music files, video clips and audio files are provided as needed.
Don’t want to commit for a full year? City Choir is semester based, with two per year (Fall & Spring). Both semesters include a City Choir self-produced concert and other run-out performances.
City Choir is fully funded by our ongoing fundraising concerts & other activities, and we encourage members to participate at a level most comfortable for them.
Check us out. We’re happy for you to attend an upcoming rehearsal to see if City Choir is right for you! It’s easy to arrange … just email us at:
