Welcome!
There are many benefits to being part of City Choir’s exceptional singing group – six, very talented directors to lead us, camaraderie of weekly singing with a diverse group of people, improvement of your singing skills, new musical styles and public performances. We are open to all who love to sing, meaning there are no minimum requirements for financial support or musical knowledge/skill.
Our six directors take us through a wide range of musical styles and sometimes the repertoire is challenging. Having an open mind is important! You may be asked to sing in an unfamiliar language, or work your way through an original composition. However, the goal is to he have fun as we learn, laugh and sing together! Listen to examples of what we have rehearsed.
During each semester, we rehearse in-person every Tuesday night from 7 pm to 9 pm in downtown Toronto. Our Winter/Spring 2026 semester started Tuesday, February 3, 2026. Thanks to all who have registered! If you’re a singer of any voice wanting to sing with us next semester – please email: member@citychoir.ca
Not sure if you’re a soprano, alto, tenor or bass? Don’t know how to read sheet music? Contact us at member@citychoir.ca for help!
Commitment is important! We ask that our registered choir members attend most weekly rehearsals. We want to be fully prepared for upcoming performances! Training aids are provided and include sheet music, audio files, and video files.
Don’t want to commit for a full year? City Choir is semester-based, and runs two semesters per year (Fall and Spring). Both semesters usually include a City Choir self-produced concert and other less formal performances. We also encourage members to perform solos, in duets, and in small ensembles. See examples of rehearsals and performances.
City Choir strives to eliminate financial barriers for those who love to sing. We are funded by donations, concert revenue and fundraising activities with member donations being on a ‘pay what you can’ basis. If you are not able to sing with us but share our vision of a choir open to all, please consider making a personal donation of time or money. For more information on how to support this work, or to discuss other sponsorship opportunities, please contact us at support@citychoir.ca
Check us out! We’re happy for you to attend an upcoming rehearsal to see if City Choir is right for you. It’s easy to arrange … just email us.
Members and non-members are welcome to join our Facebook group.
